AT&T Business Transfer PIN: How to Get a Port Out PIN
AT&T may call this a Number Transfer PIN, Transfer PIN, Port Out PIN, or Port PIN. It is the security PIN used when moving an AT&T wireless number to another carrier.
This page explains how AT&T Business Wireless customers can request a Transfer PIN, what to do if the option is missing, and why you should review the account before moving business numbers away from AT&T.
Before you port out, review the account first. Many business customers leave because of billing problems, missing credits, old plans, poor account setup, or no one managing the account. Curtis Matthews can review AT&T business wireless plans, promotions, upgrades, new lines, and account options before you move numbers away.
How to get an AT&T Business Transfer PIN
Business Wireless accounts are different from regular consumer wireless accounts. For an AT&T Business Wireless account, the right account user must request the Number Transfer PIN online or through AT&T Business Wireless Support.
Option 1: Request the Transfer PIN online
If your business account is available through the online AT&T account experience and your login has the right access, request the Number Transfer PIN online.
- Sign in to your AT&T account online.
- Go to your profile or account access area.
- Look for the option related to transferring a phone number.
- Select the option to request a new Number Transfer PIN.
- Use the PIN before it expires.
Option 2: Call AT&T Business Wireless Support
If the online option is missing, the account access is wrong, or your business account cannot create the PIN online, call AT&T Business Wireless Support.
- Call 800.331.0500.
- Ask for a Number Transfer PIN or Port Out PIN.
- Make sure the correct authorized account user is making the request.
- AT&T can generate the PIN and send it to the requestor when the account qualifies.
AT&T Premier Transfer PIN steps
Some AT&T business accounts can request a Port Out Transfer PIN through AT&T Premier. If your account has the Premier option, this may be the cleanest route.
- Go to your AT&T Premier account and sign in.
- From the Account Management menu, look for Port Out (Transfer) PIN.
- Enter the billing account number or wireless number and select Search.
- Select Create a PIN.
- Review the Port Out PIN and expiration date.
What if the Transfer PIN option is missing?
If you cannot find the Transfer PIN or Port Out PIN option, the problem is usually tied to account access, user role, account type, or account security settings.
- The wrong person may be signed in.
- The login may not have primary account access.
- The business account may need AT&T support to generate the PIN.
- Business Account Lock may be blocking number transfers.
- The Premier feature may not be enabled for your login.
- The account may need an authorized user or access update before the PIN can be requested.
Before you move business numbers away from AT&T
A Transfer PIN is usually requested when someone is ready to leave. But before moving business numbers, check the business reason first.
Review the plan, features, line charges, device installments, and credits before assuming the account cannot be fixed.
Check whether upgrade credits, new line credits, or trade-in credits are still pending, missing, or set up incorrectly.
Business plans change. A plan review may show better options before you move every number away.
Many small and mid-size business accounts have no one owning the outcome. Curtis helps keep the process moving.
Transfer PIN vs. account passcode
A Number Transfer PIN is not always the same thing as your normal account passcode. The Transfer PIN is used for moving a wireless number to another carrier. Your account passcode is used for account verification and support.
Transfer PIN vs. Transfer of Billing Responsibility
A Transfer PIN is used when moving a number from AT&T to another carrier.
Transfer of Billing Responsibility is used when moving a line from one AT&T account to another AT&T account. For example, this may apply when moving a personal line to a business account or moving a line from one business account to another.
